The churchyard is a peaceful spot near a busy main road with an attractive show of wild flowers. At lunchtime, many local workers can be seen enjoying a sandwich lunch!

Of particular interest are 12 iron leaping boards in the north-west corner; these are associated with the Medhursts, a family involved in ironworks near to the church.

Most, though not all, of recent interments have been in the southeast corner of the churchyard.

As a millennium project a record was made of all the memorials in the churchyard. When the project was completed (at the end of 2003), there were 451 memorials (of which 52 are completely illegible) and there were 828 names (or initials) listed. The earliest legible date is 1736 and the latest date was 2003, though some memorials have been added since then.

A report is available within the church; this lists the names (both alphabetically and chronologically), describes the memorials, shows copies of the inscriptions together with photographs, and gives some interesting statistics and graphs. This report (together with a similar one for the memorials inside the church) is available, in Microsoft Word format, on CDRom and may be purchased by application to the churchwardens.

In addition, an alphabetical list of names, with a plan to indicate the position of the relevant memorials, is available for sale.
